Measure the wall before you choose a size. A canvas usually looks right when it fills around two thirds of the furniture below it, so a 1.5m × 1m print suits a long couch or sideboard, while 0.8m × 0.6m works above a desk, a narrow passage table or a bedside.
Johannesburg requests are often time-sensitive: a milestone birthday, a farewell, a family reunion. Send the photo early, tell us the date in your quote request and we will confirm whether the timing works before anything is printed.
Pretoria
Graduation portraits, academic milestones and generational family photos come up often. Decide first whether the canvas is a single statement piece or part of a pair; a matching set of two 0.8m × 0.6m canvases can tell a before-and-after story.
Think about who receives it. Parents receiving a graduation canvas usually want the full gown and the setting visible, which is why we never crop your photo and always present the whole frame.
East Rand
New homes and renovated rooms are a common starting point. If the walls are freshly painted, wait until the paint has cured and the furniture is placed before you finalise the size.
A first-home canvas, a housewarming portrait or a print of the family in the new garden makes a personal gift that does not need explaining.
Vaal Triangle
River weekends, family gatherings and holiday photos often become Vaal Triangle canvases. Wide landscape photos suit the 2m × 1.4m and 1.5m × 1m formats; choose a portrait-orientation photo for narrow walls.
A canvas of a shared weekend away is a good gift for grandparents who were there, or who wish they had been.
How does photo-to-canvas printing in Gauteng work?
Canvas Masters accepts online canvas printing enquiries for Gauteng. Upload a photograph or artwork you have permission to reproduce, choose your framed dimensions and add your delivery details. The studio reviews the image and replies with a quote. You do not need to sign in, and requesting the quote does not take a payment or commit you to an order.
Personal delivery to Gauteng is arranged from our Jackal Creek Golf Estate address, not a local branch. Include the destination and any important timing requirements in the request. Your reply confirms the delivery window and any charge before approval; the location page alone is not a same-day delivery promise.
Preparing family and decorative photos for a canvas print
For family and decorative wall art, choose a photograph in which the main subject is clear before considering enlargement. Zoom into faces, eyes and fine detail in the original file. A photo can look sharp on a phone while revealing motion blur or compression when printed larger. Send the camera original or the photographer’s print-quality download rather than a screenshot.
The complete supplied photograph is printed uncropped. Check every edge of the frame, the background and the orientation before uploading. If you are comparing pictures for a home in Gauteng, include more than one in the enquiry and explain what matters to you. The studio can discuss the file’s suitability without assigning an automatic size or preferred price to your location.
Planning framed canvas wall art for Gauteng
Measure the usable wall area and the surrounding furniture before choosing from the four framed canvas sizes. Compare width and height with the photograph’s orientation, and allow space around nearby shelves, doors and existing artwork. A temporary paper outline is a practical way to see the dimensions in the room without relying on a product picture.
Canvas portraits, family photo prints and decorative artwork each create a different focal point. For a pair or gallery wall, compare subject scale and colour across the complete images. You can choose sizes separately for several photographs in one request. Your wall measurements and personal preference, rather than your postcode, should guide the choice.
Canvas printing quality: questions worth asking
Image resolution is only one part of print suitability. Focus, lighting, camera movement and file compression also affect how much detail survives enlargement. Increasing the pixel count of a small image does not recreate detail missing from the original. Share the best source file and the dimensions you are considering so the quote can address the actual image.
Ask about anything not specified in the enquiry response before approving production. This includes preparation of older photographs, unusual artwork files, frame details and delivery access. We do not assume restoration, retouching or custom manufacturing from the presence of an article illustration. Clear written requirements help keep the canvas printing request accurate.
Ordering personalised canvas gifts for delivery to Gauteng
For birthdays, anniversaries, graduations or a family gift, confirm the recipient’s wall space and check that you have permission to use the photograph. Add the occasion, the date you are aiming for and the person who can accept delivery in Gauteng. If the gift is a surprise, explain the hand-over instructions instead of relying on an unconfirmed arrival time.
Keep a copy of the original photograph and your wall measurements for future matching prints. A later canvas can complement an earlier one even when it shows a different occasion. For delivery outside the area shown here, browse our Covered Areas directory or describe the destination in your enquiry; timing and any charge still need confirmation.
Before you upload
- Phone photos taken in good daylight can print beautifully at the two smaller sizes. For 2m × 1.4m, send the original camera file, not a WhatsApp copy, so we can check the detail honestly.
- Formal photographs from studios are often supplied at high resolution. Ask your photographer for the full-size file and confirm you are allowed to print it.
- For outdoor shots, avoid harsh midday light that blows out skies and faces. Late afternoon light gives softer skin tones on canvas.
- Check the horizon is level before you upload. On a big canvas a slanted horizon is far more noticeable than on a phone screen.
